Volunteer at Maine Maritime Museum

A sense of history...

Maine Maritime Museum was founded in 1962 by people interested in preserving and promoting Maine's rich maritime history. And it was exclusively run by volunteers up until the mid-70s. Since then, hundreds of volunteers have contributed to the Museum's success. Now you too can help maintain a significant part of Maine's history by becoming part of our volunteer crew.

A sense of accomplishment...

As a non-profit organization, the Museum depends on its volunteers to accomplish many of its short and long-term goals. Annually, Museum volunteers contribute thousands of hours, completing a multitude of tasks. And because of this dedication and pride, we've become a very progressive and formidable institution in the field of maritime history.

A sense of community...

As a Maine Maritime Museum volunteer, you're able to work with others who share your interest in preserving Maine's maritime history. And through a variety of volunteer activities, you'll get a sense of the camaraderie and community spirit that has lured people to the maritime trades for hundreds of years.

MUSEUM HOURS: 9:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. DAILY – Except Thanksgiving, Christmas & New Year's Days
